I added another item added to my “bucket list” this Summer. What’s on yours?

Weekly Deals & News 6/26/16 to 7/2/16

I added another item added to my “bucket list” this Summer. What’s on yours?

With so many activities to do in the Park Rapids Area, it’s hard to squeeze them all in, especially with our busy schedules. That is why I have decided that I’m adding some items to my “bucket list ” to make sure they get done!

The last thing I want to mess with is finding the right equipment and then figuring out how to use it. Come to Smokey Hills Outdoor Store on HWY 71, where the staff know their products and are always eager to help.

Take these AWESOME new “Fat Bikes” from Rambo, that are rugged enough for up north terrain, but work just as well on the heartland trail. What would be better than taking the family on an adventurous trip. The Rambo fat bikes even come with an electric option that can go 20 miles making it perfect for any skill level!

Here are some items I added to my list:
Travel the Heartland trail on a Rambo Fatbike (See the Map)
Go see Itasca State Park and the beginnings of the Mississippi (More info here)
Catch and release a BIG Walleye (Check out the Park Rapids Area Fishing Reports)

I’m planning on crossing these off this summer, how about you and your family? Let us know how Smokey Hills Outdoor Store can help!

Park Rapids Fishing Report 6/26/16

Big thank you to Jeremy Anderson from Jones’s guide service (218-252-0957) for helping us find the fish this week.

Walleye– Swimming around the weed lines in 18-22ft of water looking for a plain Gamakatsu “Walleye Snell” or a Northland “Pro Walleye” either paired with a large leech, shiner, or redtail.
Northern– Sitting in the thickest structure build-up like timber, lily pads, and cabbage weeds in about 6-12 feet of water, on the hunt for something big and slow for an easy meal. Tie on a Northland “Bionic Bucktail” in either ¾ or 1 ½ oz or a Northland “Reed Runner” spinnerbait for a fun and easy afternoon.
Bass– Out a little deeper than last week due to the immense amount of warm weather. Still looking for structure to lay in such as deep growing pencil reeds, cabbage, and lily pads. Tie on a VMC “Heavy Duty Wide Gap” hook and pair it with a Big Bite “Trick Stick”. Texas Rig or Wacky Worm will both work. Need advice on how to do it? Come see Josh in the fishing department!
Crappie/Sunfish– Looking for the Minnesota “Tick-It” in regular or glow. Swimming through the thicker cabbage, lily pads, and deeper docks in about 10-16 feet of water. Fisherman are also having really good luck on the glow ants tipped with either a crappie minnow, waxworm, or small leech for best luck at filling the bucket!
