Park Rapids Fishing Report 9/4/16 to 9/10/16
Walleye – Water temperatures have finally came down below the 70 degree mark and the ‘eyes will be on the hunt. As fall tightens its grip on the local lakes, walleyes will be more and more aggressive outside of their traditional feeding times. Use the wind to quietly position your boat over the while vertical jigging a KenKatch Tackle™ jig paired with a rainbow minnow. Vary your depth from 12 feet to 25 feet for the best chance of bringing home your family a meal of fish fillets.
Northern Pike – Cooler surface temps have brought the big fish back to the “feeding grounds”. Large pike spend most of their summer in the deep abyss snacking on ciscos. Heavy line, steel leaders and black bucktails will get the job done. Head to the inside turns of the standing cabbage weeds, cast and ….hang on!!
Bass -Head to the lilly pads and search for the areas that the pad are still green. The bass will congregate heavily in the weed growth that is still thick.  Flip an Outkast™ Tackle jig paired with a crawfish trailer to put the big bass topside.
Sunfish/Crappie – Scattered through 5’-15’ in the thicker cabbage beds, coontails, and deep growing bulrushes. Mostly on the hunt for a Lindy “Little Nipper” either underneath a slip bobber or even cast and retrieve. Tip the little nipper with a crappie minnow, worm, or waxy for best luck at filling the bucket.
